Health and Productivity Management Strategy

Based on our management strategy, we have set forth three pillars in our strategic map: body, mind, and engagement, with the goal of "building a workplace environment where diverse human resources can work with peace of mind" and realizing the well-being of our employees, as set forth in the Medium-Term Management Plan.

Main Initiatives in FY2024

Our efforts related to health and productivity management are collectively referred to as the "well-B Challenge," and we aim to boost health by practicing a well-balanced diet, exercise habits, and mental health care, and to help each and every person be mentally, physically, and socially well-being.

In addition, we position each measure as a "well-B action" and link it with the Health Point Program to solve health issues and maintain and improve the health of our employees.

Initiatives Related to the "Body"

Thorough Medical Examination and Follow-Up Measures

In addition to the items stipulated by laws and regulations, we also add our own health checkup items to provide a more complete health checkup. Based on the premise of a 100% health checkup rate, the company is working to ensure thorough follow-up measures by providing individual guidance by a public health nurse and the full cost of the second checkup for those who need to be re-examined. In addition, we continue to conduct interviews with industrial physicians and provide health guidance to high-risk patients to improve the numbers.

Employee health checkup participation rate remains at 100%. The implementation rate of health guidance in 2024 has increased.

Health Points Program

We have introduced a "Health Point Program" that allows each person to exchange the accumulated points for products by converting actions that contribute to health into points. By using the app to record daily steps, lifestyle habits, participation in measures, and health checkups, we are awarding points to encourage employee behavior change related to health.

Typical Well-B Actions Using Our Products

Employees themselves use products developed and sold by the Umios Group to support health maintenance and promotion to improve the health of their employees. In order to improve lipids, which were the highest in the detection rate of health checkups, we provide canned fish and sausages rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA for about two months, and promote the establishment of exercise habits by holding step count challenges. As a result of continuous efforts since FY2019, the rate of lipids found has been improving.

Mental Health Initiatives

Stress Check Implementation and Analysis

Since fiscal 2016, we have been conducting stress checks at all business sites every year. We will set the rate of high-stress people as one of the final target indicators of health and productivity management, and will strengthen data-based workplace improvement follow-up with the aim of providing early response to mentally ill people and reserve soldiers, as well as improving the workplace environment.

Indicators Related to Stress Checks

Mental Health Disorder Prevention Measures

Umios Corporation has established a counseling center called "Kokoroba" where employees can easily consult with clinical psychologists to prevent mental health problems. In particular, for new employees with high mental risk, clinical psychologists conduct individual interviews with the aim of acquiring basic knowledge and prevention methods. In FY2024, the program was conducted for all 80 new employees.
In addition to providing mental health training to managers, we are also implementing 1-on-1 meetings "Bukasil" throughout the company as part of improving engagement. The aim is for the boss to be a good interlocutor for his subordinates and to pay attention to the situation of his subordinates from a comprehensive perspective, including health. In addition, we have introduced a mentor system to improve the quality of relationships, that is, primary prevention.

Support for Leave of Absence and Return to Work

We have established various systems to protect the health and safety of our employees and to support them in recuperating and returning to work in the event of illness. When it becomes necessary to take a leave of absence, medical professionals take the lead in providing support for returning to work. In addition, we have created a guidebook for support for employees who have taken leave of absence and return to work for themselves, and have established a consultation system. We aim to reduce abscentiism (the average of all employees on leave due to injury or illness) and the rate of re-leave of absence.
