The Exclusive Economic Zone came into force

Transitioned to marine trading

Reduced high seas fishing operations and shifted the business to purchasing marine products for a steadier supply in order to buy fish from around the globe to deliver to the nation.

Launched a food business

Responded to the changes surrounding the fishing industry and operated as a food manufacturer, with the aim of processing and delivering food conveniently across the country. Strengthened the import/export and trading divisions in the process.

Operated as a seafood trading company while establishing overseas affiliates in various parts of North America.

Generated value by focusing on quality seafood products

Completely overhauled branding, sales strategy, and product design. Introduced new upmarket products such as the DHA-rich fish sausage, which became very popular, especially with health-minded consumers. Developed unique products and launched a new canned food brand with the aim to stimulate demand in the food market.

Changed company name to Maruha Corporation
Withdrew from the North Sea mothership salmon and trout fishing and transformed into a food manufacturer.
Developed and maintained overseas processing bases, primarily in China and Thailand.
