The name "Umios" embodies our determination to start from the ocean [umi]—our roots—and work in unity [one] with our stakeholders, society as a whole, and the planet to provide solutions [solutions] to global social challenges through "food".
The world today is facing significant changes in the business environment surrounding our group, including the depletion of natural marine resources, the progression of global warming, and a global food crisis. Amid these changes, we place particular emphasis on the "spirit of ‘One’" embodied in our company name, Umios. Departments connect with one another, and the entire group operates as a single team. We will unite and connect with our stakeholders—"society" and "the planet". This philosophy is the very essence of the direction Umios must take moving forward. By confronting environmental changes and "connecting" the entire value chain, we will simultaneously strengthen our sustainable revenue base and create social value.
For us, having grown on the blessings of ocean and nature, it is our corporate responsibility to pass on "food"—which supports the health of people and the planet—to future generations. Drawing on my many years of experience working on the front lines, I have always prioritized expanding the chain of value by transcending existing frameworks and avoiding fixed mindsets. Moving forward, we will more firmly integrate our core competencies—resource procurement, processing technology, and ingredient supply—and coordinate our business operations and functions to grow the value cycle "larger and stronger." Through this, we aim to realize our long-term vision of "providing sustainable protein" and "creating health value." This embodies Umios’ vision for the future: to maximize economic, environmental, and social value as a trinity and become a company that continues to be chosen by society. Rather than letting this transformation end with a mere declaration, we will evolve into a company defined by on-the-ground implementation and results. To achieve this, we will maximize our organizational strength through a "One Team" spirit and realize sustainable growth.
While inheriting the history and aspirations of our predecessors built over 146 years, the Umios Group will move forward with determination, together with all of you, toward a future that balances the continuous enhancement of corporate value with the resolution of social issues, so that we may remain the company of choice for the next 100 years.
